Our Discovery Zone is teeming with life.  Discover some of natures creatures up close. The Discovery Zone, houses our amphibians, corn snakes, Sulcutta tortoises and other invertebrates.

Twice a day, join us for our minibeast handling sessions. There is plenty of fun to be had here!

New for 2022

This winter, we have been busy re-landscaping the Discovery Zone. We have increased our collection of animals and we will be joined by our Corn Snake, Asian Forest Scorpion and more invertebrates. We can't wait for you to join us in our Minibeast handling sessions to meet some our newest residents.

Sulcutta Tortoises

Hermione & Myrtle

Hermione and Myrtle are our 2 Sulcutta Tortoises. Sulcutta tortoises originate from the desert of Africa. They are the largest mainland tortoise and can weigh over 100 pounds! Sulcutta tortoises can live to 100 years old! Our tortoises can be seen happily munching on grass and dandelions

Giant African Land Snails

Giant African Land Snails are one of the largest snails on the planet. Their shells can reach a length of 7.8 inches and an impressive height of 3-4 inches.  On average, the Giant African Land Snails can live to 5-7 years.  We feed our snails on a mixture of vegetables and cuttlefish bone.

Giant Asian toad - Trevor

Giant Asian Toads are native to Asia and are found in dark moist areas near rivers and streams. Females can reach an impressive 22cm in length! Our toad can be found bathing in his water dish or hiding under his log.
